What is my delivery network?
Your delivery network allows you to model all your delivery capacities, independent of your distribution network. It is a prerequisite for managing fleets and routes in Woop.
The delivery network is composed of sectors, which may correspond to one or more fleets and one or more pickup points.
How to access my delivery network ?
- Go to the "Carrier" menu entry and select your carrier.
- Choose the "Delivery Network" tab
🧐 Don't have the "Delivery Network" tab? To access the delivery network, fleet management features must be activated. Once activated, the tab will automatically be added to your carrier. If you don't see the tab, contact your Woop representative.
Understand my settings
🔎 Your settings are visible in the "Settings" section.
Three elements are contractually defined and configured for you at the time of feature activation by the Woop team:
- Distance Calculator: By default, we offer the OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) speed calculator. This will cover most standard needs with good performance. For advanced needs, you can request access to the HERE calculator. (For more information on speed calculators, see our dedicated article)
- Number of Vehicles: Your maximum number is defined at initialization. To unlock more vehicles, contact your Woop representative.
- Maximum Optimization Duration: The maximum optimization time must be set according to the complexity of your needs to provide good optimization results while respecting your operational constraints. Default is set to 5 minutes, but it can be adjusted according to your needs. This will apply to all optimized routes for your activities.
What is a sector?
Sectors are the foundation of your delivery operations. They allow you to allocate your resources across the entire covered territory and assign dedicated staff. All sectors together form your delivery network.
Each sector is completely independent. Sharing resources between multiple sectors is not supported.
👀 Are you also in charge of expeditions? Due to their independent operation, you will be able to natively manage shared resource cases.
Create a sector
- From the "Delivery Network" tab on your carrier page, you will have access to the "Sectors" section.
- Click on "Create a Sector" and fill in the required information:
- Name*: A name that allows you to easily identify it.
- Time Zone*: The time zone should correspond to the one used in the area served by the sector.
- Maximum Number of Vehicles*: You can distribute the maximum number of vehicles you have available among your sectors. The total number of vehicles allocated to all your sectors cannot exceed the maximum number of vehicles available to you. A planner cannot create more vehicles in a sector than you have allocated.
Example: You have 30 vehicles. You create a first sector and allocate 15 vehicles to it. You create a second sector and allocate 10 vehicles to it. You have 5 vehicles left to allocate. If you create a third sector, it cannot exceed 5 vehicles.
🔎 Once created, the sector will appear in the "Sectors" list in the "Delivery Network" tab.
🧐 I encountered an error while creating my sector?
- The name is already used by another sector; please change it!
- You have assigned more vehicles than you have available.
👀 You can only have one sector! If you operate all your deliveries from a single starting point and with a single set of resources, you may only need one sector.
Associate a sector with a pickup point
For your sector to receive orders, you need to select the pickup points with which it should be associated.
⚠️ If your sector is not associated with any pickup point, it will not receive any orders.
- In the "Associated Pickup Points" section, click on "set up": a list will appear with available pickup points.
🧐 My pickup point does not appear?
- For the pickup point to be associated with your sector, your carrier must be activated for the pickup point. This action is performed upstream by your Woop representative.
- This pickup point is already associated with another sector.
Once associated, all orders from the selected pickup point(s) will automatically be directed to this sector.
🙋♀️ If you have doubts about the best way to set up your sectors, your Woop representative can assist you!
