Multiple visits
The application allows you to manage multiple visits to the same destination, meaning visits of different types or at different times within the same route plan, for example a delivery in the morning and a collection in the afternoon. (Option enabled on request, contact us).
Create multiple visits
To create multiple visits, go to the edit page for a destination. To do this, on the “Destination list” page or a plan page, use the “pencil” button for a destination to edit that destination and its visits. The “Edit destination” page will appear. At the bottom of your page, where the current visits are listed
Click on “New visit” to create a new visit. Fill in the fields as needed.
The calculator will create your routes according to the constraints you set.
Visualisation
- In the route: on the right (1), the visit is shown by the destination name followed by the visit indicator (e.g. “Mr Dubourg #2”). The “pencil” button lets you edit the visit if needed. The geolocation icon-button lets you centre the map on the visit.
- On the map: multiple visits are shown as pop-ups (2) linked to a stop point.
- Click on the visit and a pop-up appears (3). A summary of the visit is displayed. The “pencil” button at the top right of the pop-up lets you edit the visit if needed.
Also:
On the destination list, visits are grouped under the same destination with one line per visit, on the right side of the spreadsheet. The labels, visit duration and time constraints can be edited directly. The “pencil” button lets you edit the destination in more detail if needed.
Tips
Multiple visits allow you to manage different types of visits at the same destination. Some possible uses are:
A destination requires two daily visits with different time constraints. Each visit will be automatically assigned to the relevant vehicle.
A destination requires a medical visit each day (agent and route no.1) and a logistics visit (agent and route no.2), with flexible or different times. Each visit should be assigned to the relevant agent.
Multi-configuration of vehicles
Definition
For specific needs, the same vehicle may be used with several configurations, for example a team of agents in the morning and another in the afternoon, or different schedules depending on the day of the week, etc. (This option can be enabled on request, contact us).
Create a new configuration
To create multiple vehicle configurations, go to the vehicle list. To do this, on the “Vehicles / List” page, use the “New vehicle configuration” button
Fill in the fields as needed.
In the “Vehicles / List” menu you can duplicate, edit and delete configurations.
Optimisation options
Global optimisation
Global optimisation allows you to optimise the plan as a whole (This option can be enabled on request, contact us).
Creating routes in a plan using zones is more suitable for respecting a geographical work area (catchment area) or for assigning vehicles or drivers in the case of personal services, for example, to avoid frequent changes of home visitor or to build customer loyalty with a regular home seller.
Global optimisation is an alternative to zoning, allowing optimal calculation across all vehicles without geographical constraints, aiming to minimise overall usage time and distance travelled.
Stop points may therefore be assigned to a different route (vehicle) than originally planned. The routes will probably not be “balanced” (in terms of duration, distance or number of stops).
Before calculation, you can lock a route to exclude it from global optimisation.
Prevent visit slot delays
In the destination list or by import, you can set one (or two) start time(s) and one (or two) end time(s) for visits.
If needed, these times can be strictly enforced. The optimisation calculation prevents delays. Visits outside the time slots will be unticked.
For each visit, you can set a priority level in the Visit section(s) of each destination. High-priority visits will be considered first in route optimisation. Low-priority visits outside the time slots will be unticked.
The application can allow delays for visit slots. All visits are included in the route, even if they are outside the slots. Visit times may be shifted or delayed.
Prevent vehicle slot delays
In the vehicle list or by import, you can set a time range for each vehicle with a start and end time.
If needed, these times can be strictly enforced. The optimisation calculation prevents delays. Stop points outside the time range will be unticked.
The application can allow delays for vehicle slots. All stop points are included in the route, even if they are outside the defined time range. You can also set a working duration for your vehicles (for example, the legal working time for a driver). Whether or not delays are allowed, the working duration will always be respected.
Force departure at start of slot
When the “Force departure at start of slot” option is selected, optimisation takes the departure time into account to set stop points within the defined slots.
Otherwise, the departure time is not a calculation constraint. Stop points are set in relation to each other. Optimisation is therefore based on the different stages rather than the defined slots.
