Goal: Inform on GHG emissions of WOOP deliveries
During a delivery request managed by our platform, CO2e emissions (CO2 equivalent) are estimated for each carrier.
We base these calculations on the ‘GHG information for transport services’ methodology published by the Ministry of Ecology and ADEME, based on data provided by our brands and carriers.
Emission factor of the vehicle used X weight of the parcel X distance covered
The values are calculated by multiplying the aggregated data of the **** carrier’s vehicles by the weight in tons of transported parcels by the distance in km, as specified in level 1 of the method’s guidelines.
The Level 1 calculation method used here measures CO2e emissions taking into account:
- vehicle manufacturing data,
- vehicle operation,
- Empty carrier journeys.
The following factors are not taken into account in this calculation:
- the packaging of the parcels delivered,
- the journeys consumers may make to collect parcels,
- the transport infrastructure used.
Finally, each CO2e estimate is accompanied by a confidence index (on a 1-5 scale) based on the quality of the data provided and the level of uncertainty in transport planning.
