The pick up and delivery feature allows you to easily and automatically manage the insertion of exchange places for goods (pick up) into your routes.
When is the pick up and delivery feature useful?
The Pick up and Delivery applies when the goods are not loaded directly at the depot before the route.
- External collection: You collect the goods from a different point (exchange place) than where your vehicles are parked (depot).
- Multi-shippers pooling: You work with several shippers from whom you collect goods (pooling), according to the day's needs.
-
Multiple collections: You collect goods from your shippers several times a day.
Impact on route composition
Each order contains a starting point (collection) and an endpoint (delivery).
Once activated, the feature automatically adds the necessary exchange places into the routes.
Each route therefore displays:
the collection points (Pick up),
followed by the corresponding delivery points.
If multiple orders are collected at the same place and within the same time slot, they are merged into a single point in the route.
👉 By clicking on an exchange place, you can view:
the list of orders involved,
the quantities to be loaded.
How to activate it?
The pick up and Delivery is set up on the sector page.
If multiple exchange places are associated with a sector, the pick up and delivery will automatically activate on the relevant sector. It can be deactivated manually.
To activate or deactivate the pick up and delivery, open the "optimisation settings" and change the "pick up and Delivery" setting.
How does it work?
When the Pick up and Delivery is activated:
The exchange places linked to the orders are automatically inserted into the routes.
-
In case of manual modification of a route, the exchange places are reinserted automatically to ensure flow consistency.
These points cannot be deleted or moved manually.
If multiple collections are to be made consecutively at the same place, they are merged. Only one point appears in the route.
-
If you wish to hide the exchange places:
deactivate the “Pick up and Delivery” option,
then restart the optimisation of the routes.
Visits to the exchange places will adhere to their opening hours.
FAQ
Is the Pick up and Delivery mandatory?
No.
The feature activates automatically only if multiple exchange places are associated with a sector. However, you can manually deactivate the Pick up and Delivery at any time from the optimisation settings of the sector.
What happens if I deactivate the Pick up and Delivery?
The exchange places will no longer be inserted into the routes.
The routes will start directly from the depot, without passing through the collection points.
To make the change effective, you must restart an optimisation.
Can I move or delete an exchange place in a route?
No.
The exchange places are automatically managed by the optimisation engine and cannot be modified manually.
This ensures consistency between the collection and delivery flows.
What happens if multiple orders come from the same exchange place?
The orders are merged into a single point on the route, provided they are scheduled within the same time slot.
Clicking on the exchange place allows you to view the detail of the orders and quantities to be loaded.
Is it possible to have multiple exchanges on the same route?
Yes.
The system can schedule multiple visits to different loaders within the same route, according to needs and loading constraints. The order of visits is automatically optimised.
How to identify an exchange place on the route?
The exchange places are clearly marked on the route, with a specific icon.
They are distinct from delivery points, to make reading and checking easier.
Does Pick up and Delivery affect the duration of the route?
Yes, potentially.
Adding exchange places can lengthen travel or service times, as the vehicle must make one or more additional stops before deliveries.
These constraints are automatically taken into account by the optimisation engine.
What to do if my exchange places do not appear?
Check:
That Pick up and Delivery is enabled in the sector.
That the orders contain an exchange place distinct from the depot.
That you have re-run an optimisation after changing the settings.
If the problem persists, contact support specifying the sector and the orders concerned.
