Itinerary Calculator

The itinerary calculator allows you to choose the type of vehicle as well as the type of optimisation you want.
Type of vehicle: Light vehicle, HGV, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.
Type of optimisation: Fastest, shortest.

Depending on the vehicle type selected, the combinations available with the type of optimisation may vary.

Where to set this up

You can make this choice in several places:

• Either from the "Global settings" menu => "Default values", to assign a calculator to the entire vehicle fleet
• Or in the configuration of each vehicle

When you click on the calculator selection line, several options will appear depending on your subscription plan.

We will now present the various calculators available.

Type of optimisation

First of all, there are two types of optimisation: fastest or shortest. The choice depends on your activity and the type of optimisation you want.

Fastest
For the fastest option, the system calculates the quickest possible route in terms of time.

Shortest
For the shortest option, the system calculates the shortest possible route in terms of distance.

Type of vehicle

Common settings

Some settings are common to all vehicle types.

• EmissionConsumption: Allows you to specify the type of fuel used and the consumption. This information is used to determine the CO2 emissions produced by this vehicle during the route.
• Maximum distance: sets a maximum distance that the vehicle can travel. This setting can be used, for example, for electric vehicles.
• Mapo Driver (optional, contact us): If you have the "Mapo Driver" mobile app option, this is where you can assign a driver account to a vehicle. This means that when exporting, each vehicle's route will be sent to the corresponding driver account.
• Mapo Driver password: This is where you can change the password for a driver account in the mobile app. This may be necessary for several reasons, such as a forgotten password or when an employee changes for confidentiality reasons.

Light vehicle

When you select "Light vehicle" in the "Itinerary calculator" drop-down menu, the options specific to light vehicles are displayed. All of these can be set and changed on each vehicle page (see the Vehicle management section).

• Use motorways:
  If you select Yes, the calculator will use motorways. If you select No, the calculator will avoid motorways. If set to "default", the value will be the one set in the "global settings" => "Default values" menu.
• Use toll roads:
  If you select Yes, the calculator will use toll roads. If you select No, the calculator will avoid toll roads. If set to "default", the value will be the one set in the "global settings" => "Default values" menu.
• Activate / Depart in the direction of traffic: You can choose to arrive at or leave a stop in the direction of traffic, or to ignore the direction of traffic in the itinerary calculation. This setting can be used to force parking on the right-hand side of the road and always on the side of the destination address, to prevent the driver from having to cross the road to get to the other side.
• Speed adjustment: You can adjust the speed calculation. The average speed for a light vehicle is based on statistics. This setting, expressed as a percentage, allows you to match this average speed to your actual speed, for example if a driver tends to drive a bit faster than average. For example, 100% = average speed, while 110% = a vehicle that drives 10% faster than average.

HGV (option)

When you select "HGV" in the "Itinerary calculator" drop-down menu, the options specific to HGVs are displayed. All of these can be set and changed on each vehicle page (see the Vehicle management section).

• Use motorways:
  If you select Yes, the calculator will use motorways. If you select No, the calculator will avoid motorways. If set to "default", the value will be the one set in the "global settings" => "Default values" menu.
• Use toll roads:
  If you select Yes, the calculator will use toll roads. If you select No, the calculator will avoid toll roads. If set to "default", the value will be the one set in the "global settings" => "Default values" menu.

• Number of trailers:
  Set the number of trailers being towed. The number must be between 0 and 4. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
• Vehicle weight: 
  
• Set the vehicle weight. Expressed in tonnes, this is the weight of the vehicle including trailers and goods. It must be between 0 and 1000 tonnes. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
  
• Weight per axle: 
  
• Set the weight per axle. Expressed in tonnes, the weight per axle is the total vehicle weight divided by the number of axles. It must be between 0 and 1000 tonnes. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
  
• Vehicle height: 
  
• The vehicle height is expressed in metres. It must be between 0 and 50 metres. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
  
• Vehicle width: 
  
• The vehicle width is expressed in metres. It must be between 0 and 50 metres. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
  
• Vehicle length: 
  
• The vehicle length is expressed in metres. It must be between 0 and 300 metres. You can use the arrows to the right of the field or enter the desired number directly.
  
• Type of hazardous material: 
  You can specify the type of hazardous or polluting material being transported to comply with road restrictions for certain materials.
• Strict compliance with HGV restrictions: If not ticked, the calculator will try to comply with restrictions as closely as possible and will only override them if there is no alternative.
• Speed adjustment: You can adjust the speed calculation. The average speed for a light vehicle is based on statistics. This setting, expressed as a percentage, allows you to match this average speed to your actual speed, for example if a driver tends to drive a bit faster than average. Bicycle

When you select “Bike” from the “Itinerary Calculator” drop-down menu, the specific options for cycles (bicycles, cargo bikes, tricycles, etc.) are displayed. All of these are customisable and can be set or changed on each vehicle page (see the Vehicle Management section).

When you select “Public Transport” from the “Itinerary Calculator” drop-down menu, the specific options for Public Transport are displayed. All of these are customisable and can be set or changed on each vehicle page (see the Vehicle Management section).

1. Maximum walking distance:
   This setting allows you to specify the maximum distance a pedestrian can walk to reach a public transport stop, for example between two connections.
2. Speed adjustment:
   You can adjust the speed calculation. The average speed for a light vehicle is based on statistics. This setting, expressed as a percentage, allows you to match this average speed to your actual speed in the field, for example if a driver tends to drive a bit faster than average. For example, 100% = average speed, while 110% = a vehicle travelling 10% faster than average.
